Disney+ has unleashed the first trailer for Lucasfilm’s latest original series from a galaxy far, far away, “Star Wars: The Acolyte” which makes its two-episode premiere on Tuesday, June 4. Featuring a star-studded cast, the new action-packed series takes place 100 years before the prequel trilogy which was kicked off by Episode I: The Phantom Menace, marking The Acolyte as the furthest back in Star Wars history we’ve seen depicted in live action.

The series follows a respected Jedi Master, played by Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game) and a group of Jedi who finds themselves entangled in a relentless pursuit against a formidable warrior from his past, presumably a youngling he once taught, based off what we see in the trailer, played by Amandla Stenberg (The Hunger Games). The ensemble cast also features Manny Jacinto (The Good Place), Dafne Keen (Logan), Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll), Jodie Turner-Smith (The Witcher: Blood Origin), Rebecca Henderson (Inventing Anna), Dean-Charles Chapman (Game of Thrones), Joonas Suotamo (Solo: A Star Wars Story) and Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix franchise).
Crafted by Leslye Headland and inspired by the visionary universe of Star Wars by George Lucas, the series boasts an illustrious team of executive producers including Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King, and Jason Micallef. With co-executive producers Charmaine DeGraté and Kor Adana, and a talented production team led by Rayne Roberts, Damian Anderson, Eileen Shim, and Rob Bredow.
Helming the premiere episodes (Eps. 101 & 102) is Leslye Headland herself, followed by Kogonada (Eps. 103 & 107), Alex Garcia Lopez (Eps. 104 & 105), and Hanelle Culpepper (Eps. 106 & 108).
Joining the likes of Star Wars composers John Williams, Ludwig Göransson, Nicholas Britell and Kevin Kliner is franchise newcomer Michael Abels, renowned for his work on the critically-acclaimed Jordan Peele-directed films “Get Out” and “Us”.
