Marvel Studios just dropped the official trailer for the highly anticipated second season of What If…?, an animated anthology that gives viewers a look into the multiverse where one small change alters the course of the Marvel Cinematic Universe history. The show’s first season, released in 2021, saw fan-favorite storylines involving a zombie infection killing, and then zombie-fying, some of our favorite Avengers; Peggy Carter taking the Super Soldier serum and becoming Captain Carter; and Ultron winning the battle on Sokovia and setting out to destroy the Earth and the multiverse.

Marvel Studios describes the second season of What If…? as “continuing the journey as The Watcher guides viewers through the vast multiverse, introducing brand new and familiar faces throughout the MCU. The series questions, revisits and twists classic Marvel Cinematic moments with an incredible voice cast that includes a host of stars who reprise their iconic roles. Featuring fan-favorite characters this season like Nebula, Hela and Happy Hogan, episodes are directed by executive producer Bryan Andrews with executive producer AC Bradley as head writer.”

Throughout the trailer, we get glimpses of exciting new storylines, including: Thanos not completing his collection of Infinity Stones on Wakanda at the end of Avengers: Infinity War; an alternate line up of Avengers in the 1990s comprised of Wendy Lawson as Captain Marvel, Hank Pym as Ant-Man, King T’Chaka as Black Panther, and Bucky Barnes as The Winter Soldier; and what appears to be a battle between Odin versus Xu Wenwu, aka The Mandarin from Shang-Chi, and his wife Ying Li.

The second season begins streaming December 22nd on Disney+ with daily episodes for nine days. Best Christmas present, ever!
