The new one-hour show will highlight films from touchstone classics to genre favorites

Actors With Issues is thrilled to announce its first spin-off podcast, Once Upon A Time At The Movies, a one-hour retrospective film review series in biweekly installments. Each episode will look back at a classic film that is celebrating a milestone anniversary that month, from 15 to 50+ years, along with a superfan special guest to discuss each movie’s history, favorite moments, its pop culture relevance and how each film has stood the test of time.

“I’ve wanted to expand the Actors With Issues brand in some way for a long time,” explained exec producer and host Juan Ayala. “We started participating in junkets and big press days which provided great, albeit brief, conversations with actors from pretty big films, but we missed the in-depth conversations we had in our show’s early days. Once Upon is a great way to bring those longer chats back while exploring new territory. We’re so excited for this show and have some great films and guests coming down the pipeline.”

The series debuted earlier this month with the horror classic that launched the slasher genre in 1978, John Carpenter’s Halloween, just in time for its 45th anniversary, and joined by stand-up comedian Gerardo Pelati. Released earlier this week was a look back at one of the all-time greatest romances, The Way We Were with cinephile Anthony Sanchez Solis.

Coming up in November, we’ll be taking a look back at the 2018 Academy Award-winning Roma and Christmas classic A Christmas Story for its 40th anniversary.

New episodes of Once Upon A Time At The Movies are published on a biweekly basis, on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month, and will be available to watch in full on YouTube, or you can listen on-the-go on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts.

(Note: we are in full support of the SAG-AFTRA strike and any members who appear on our podcast are guest for independent films like Halloween, which do not fall under the category of struck work, the likes of which SAG-AFTRA members are not allowed to promote. We hope SAG-AFTRA and AMPTP reach a fair deal soon.)
