Like many actors, Alan Ceppos was bitten by the acting bug at a very young age, setting his eyes on a career in show business. However, Ceppos didn’t have rose-colored glasses on about the entertainment industry and knew full well that it would be a challenging path and that acting may not be his main source of income.
“Acting wasn’t going to be how I’d support myself. I’d always been able to jump in and out when I wanted because I have two sides of my life,” he explained. “The other side has allowed me to continue to act and support myself. There was never a moment when I said I’d jump out [and quit], but there were plenty where I wanted to jump in more.”
Ceppos and his husband run Sarut Group, which includes successful business including The Hamptons Honey Company and PIQ. Throughout his career, he delved into other facets of the entertainment industry, including producing multiple Broadway productions. Given how different producing is in the theatre vs. film and television, Ceppos made his return to acting and has since appeared in the Prime Video series ‘Gravesend’, playing a French businessman and restauranteur involved with the mob.
Ceppos spoke with us about his experience working on the series, the changes he’s noticed in the industry and younger generations of actors, and reminds actors that success does not happen overnight.
